Too young to know the significance of that title? Pity. Because the 70’s TV series, Isis, likely shaped many women of my generation. The female lead need only hold an ancient amulet in her hand, recite “Oh mighty Isis” and she would be transformed into the goddess – with supernatural powers and all.
I was a bit conflicted in my early teens. I spent afternoons singing into the mirror practicing for my stadium appearances as a lead singer but “off stage” recited the words of my heroine from Isis. I don’t recall exactly, but I likely took on special powers that allowed me to fly or walk through walls. (I should tell that I was also a BIG fan of The Flying Nun and still have dreams about flying with a habit on – don’t read too much into that, please.)
So that brings us to Isis, the clothing company.
Their clothes are designed for active women and are comfortable enough to wear hiking or biking (or traveling, of course) but don’t ditch the femininity in the process. (Don’t get your hopes up. There have been no reports of the ability to fly or walk through walls in their clothes).
In time for summer, I’ve been testing out a couple of items from Isis:
Isis Brighton Bay
This short-sleeved polyester/spandex blend is lightweight. Really lightweight. I love the extra touches from this tee including the gathered neckline, the roll-up sleeves and the hidden pocket (perfect for carrying a few dollars).
And, it doesn’t wrinkle. Which means you can roll it or fold it up in your luggage and then wear it as soon as you arrive at your destination.
The Brighton Bay tee is available in 4 colors and is $55 on the Isis site.
Mile Hi Shorts
You need shorts with that new Brighton Bay tee – don’t you?
The Mile Hi’s are now my go-to shorts (though I haven’t had many chances in Seattle yet to go to them!). They’re made of a stretch nylon, so there’s a bit of give, and they feature an adjustable inner waistband so you don’t have to wear a belt (though there are loops for that).
The two top pockets are roomy AND there’s an additional zippered pocket down the side of the left leg (I keep my lucky coins in there).
I’m looking forward to wearing these in Papua New Guinea and Bangkok later this year. I know the lightweight fabric is going to be perfect in these super hot and humid places.
The Mile Hi shorts are available in 5 colors and is $65 on the Isis site.
Travel Well,
Beth

I think they should sell the necklace too.
Love lightweight, no wrinkle clothes that still look good so that you can wear them both when being active or when traveling.
This post made my day. I leave for my RTW in January and I am looking for women’s travel wear that is functional yet still feminine. Please keep sharing your recommendations!
