More Bold Moves from our Wanderlusters

| POSTED IN:> Travel Tips

What are YOU doing to Be Bold? I’ve been asking that question of the Wanderluster community and the responses I’m receiving are inspiring. Here’s how you responded last month and here’s what you ladies are up to now:

*****

Kim K. found my review about Fjallraven shorts and said that she’ll be wearing hers to celebrate her 60th birthday on her first big hike on the West Coast Trail in August. She is so excited to plan, train and anticipate the adventure.

*****

Leigh said she had her first “Be Bold” moment this year by taking a two-week solo trip to Asia. This helped her conquer her fear of flying. She had never let this fear stop her from traveling, but she was proud to keep her cool alone on a 16-hour flight!

*****

Rachel StaggsRachel Staggs, one of our former WanderBloggers, just launched a new website that she’s feeling quite BOLD about.

She’s very proud of the fact that she worked with developers and a designer to organize all of her creative avenues in one place. While she considers it a work in progress, her blog is up and running. If you want to know more about Rachel and her work, check out her home page.

Also, Rachel is now in the midst of a six-week trip through Europe. Go Rachel!

*****

Mona P. was bold by entertaining her Burmese guide (Mona’s been to Burma many times) on her Mona and Burmese guidefirst trip to America. That’s Mona and Win Win in this photo. She thought the water was too cold (it is). Mona was excited for Win Win but knew there wouldn’t be mohinga (a Burmese fish dish) for her breakfast since Mona’s a vegetarian.

*****

Monica S. is (re)starting P90X. She’s concerned she won’t be able to lift her arms for a month, but knows the payoff is more than worth it!

Beth’s note – I have to point out here that Monica is the person who inspired me to start P90X in 2013. She mentioned over dinner that she had completed this exercise program and how much it changed her life. I immediately purchased it and jumped right in. I’ll be forever grateful to her for introducing me to Tony Horton.

*****

Debby J. started working out with a personal trainer about a month ago. By doing so, she’s been kickin’ the workouts up several notches. She’s motivated by the fact that she’ll be 50 in 7 months. GO, DEBBY, GO!

*****

Krisztina S. is going to (re)learn to ride a motorcycle and get her license. She’s planning an epic adventure for next year! (I can’t wait to hear about that one!)

*****

Shakira K. just got back into running after four years off. She’s going to spend July solidifying her speed and getting her strength work back into rotation.

*****

Lorry is taking an unscripted road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway with her sister.

*****

Cynthia will be making a blueberry and cucumber salad for a family celebration. She learned the recipe on our Seattle Culinary tour. She thought that the people eating her salad might be the bold ones! 🙂

I am training for a trek to Everest Base Camp in 2017 and I am 65 this year.
Being fit is very important to me and it’s fun to work out hard to prepare for
challenging hikes and realize if we do the work age is not an issue.

Carol – that sounds amazing. I was just talking with a friend this past week about the possibility of going to Everest Base Camp. Have you seen Sherpa? Or the movie Everest? I was prepared not to like the Hollywood version of Everest but the landscape is too stunning not to love it.

I have rediscovered the joy of swimming and extended it to the lakes of the Cumbrian Lake District in the UK.
Swimming in a wild open lake with a backdrop of mountains, sun, mist, rain and an occasional rainbow, is without a doubt, food for the soul of a woman heading into her 60th year!
