I shot more than 1,200 images in one day at the Mt. Hagen Show last week in Papua New Guinea. Having just arrived home today, I haven’t quite had the time to start sorting through them all so here is just one to whet your appetite. I’ll be writing more about my experiences and sharing lots of photos in the coming weeks.

Wow! New Guinea! Can’t wait to see more. Is wigwoman the name of her group? or does it refer to her outfit?

What a great picture! Seeing people who look so different from us and live such a different life always makes me marvel at how wonderful all this diversity is, and how arrogant and ignorant it is to assume one’s own culture, religion, way of life, is The One and Only Truth.

I can’t’ believe how beautiful that photo is! I can only imagine how awesome the rest are going to be!

Well, Lucia, her tribe might have a more official name but in the region where she’s from the men (mostly) and women sport these magnificent wigs, which are usually their hair. Meaning they can’t be taken off – they are worn all the time and it’s a little uncomfortable for sleeping, to say the least!

You are just torturing me. In a good way. But I’m excited that you got soemething up so quickly!

I can’t wait for more photos of New Guinea. My husband and I may be moving to West Papua (Irian Jaya) early next year for work so it will be great to see your pics. We are going over for an interview and to check it out next month. It is amazing that where we are going there are glaciers! It certainly is an amazing place.
