What will they think of next? Last spring, I profiled the world’s first 4-pack to-go wine, and today, it’s the world’s first by-the-glass bottle of wine. The Vini (no relation to the genus of birds from the Pacific islands) – available in both white and red wine varietals – comes in a sleek James Bond-esque glass tube and no-fuss screw top lid.
Perfect to slip in your bag for a picnic or outdoor concert. And party favors? Oh, how your party guests will rave when you hand out Vinis out as party or wedding favors!
It’s about time that wine be served in cute little individual serving bottles beyond the in-flight kind. Think about it, mini liquor bottles have been around the 70s and I’m forever grateful to that pioneering soul who invented them. Now, thanks to Sunny Fraser, wine connoisseur and creator, of the Vini, we have the perfect portion of one glass of wine bottled and ready for easy access!
“Until this innovation, the only other option for individual servings of wine was the mini liquor bottles like those found on airplanes. However, that option does not include high-end or high quality wines,” says Fraser.
Currently, The Vini is available with a Napa, CA Zinfandel and a Sonoma, CA Chardonnay, but have plans to expand with other varietals in the future. I’m hoping for a Rosé soon (it’s summer after all)! I can just imagine myself at a party (art gallery openings is what I’m thinking of specifically) serving mediocre wine. I slyly pull a Vini out, unscrew, pour in the designated cup and happily mingle, with the host not knowing the difference. Genius!
The bottle is also a perfect size for upcycling. My mother, a chemist, would find a thousand and one uses for it! Marinate olive oils, infuse vodka with strange ingredients or store vanilla beans, The Vini is quite eco-friendly. For more creative ideas on ways to reuse the bottles, head HERE.
For South Floridians, The Vini is available at the Joe’s Stone Crab Take Away, Epicure Gourmet Markets and Joanna’s Marketplace, Commodore Wines, PGA National Resort & Spa. For everyone else in certain states, you can order it online at www.thevini.com, sold in 4-packs or by the case (roughly $9 a tube, price goes down when buying a case).
Drink Well,
Lanee
