Too exciting or too terrifying, depending on your outlook on life… As I was writing this up on VOGA Italia, I felt my first earthquake ever even though I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 10 years now!
Maybe the quake was Mama Earth’s endorsement of VOGA Italia Wines…?
I digress – back to VOGA Italia’s Late Summer Sangria recipe aka The Seismic Sangria. I first discovered the cleverly packaged wine in a sleek cylindrical bottle (not to be confused with VOSS water) at the Duty Free Shop in the Montreal Airport as my flight was delayed due to another of Mother Earth’s roaring – Hurricane Irene.
VOGA Italia is a perfect travel or picnic wine with its extremely convenient resealable top; so much sexier than the standard aluminum ones. And this cap works on their VOGA Italia Sparkling Wine too! Brilliant. I still haven’t figured out a good way (besides the ol’ French trick of dropping a silver spoon in the bottle) for preserving sparking wine until now.
For a ‘sayonara’ summer cocktail this Labor Day weekend, why not showcase those late summer/early fall fruits? VOGA Italia’s Late Summer Sangria is a tasty tribute to both summer’s waning and fall’s christening. VODA Italia Moscato is available at most BevMos or Ralphs.
VOGA Italia’s Late Summer Sangria
1 Bottle of VOGA Italia Moscato Wine
1 12 oz. bottle of Peach Beer (VOGA recommends Dogfish Head’s Festina Pêche or Lindemans Pêche Lambic)
3 oz. Triple Sec
2 sliced peaches
2 sliced apricots
1 sliced Granny Smith apple
1 sliced lemon
1 sliced lime
1/2 liter club soda
Pour wine and beer in a large pitcher and add sliced peach, apricot, apple, lemon and lime. Next add triple sec and stir gently. Chill mixture for at least one hour, and top with club soda and stir before serving. WARNING: May cause tremors of excitement with your Labor Day party guests.
