After years of returning to Isla Mujeres, I decided it was time to explore another part of Mexico. Flying into Cancun is the quickest way for those of us who live in Austin, Texas to explore Quintana Roo or Yucatan, Mexico.
Luckily, one of the owners of Casa el Pio boutique hotel on Isla Mujeres ventured to Valladolid, Yucatan on her own and it piqued my interest.
Valladolid is just under a two hour drive from the Cancun airport. Its colonial-era architecture is breathtaking and something I hadn’t seen since I visited Guanajuato in 1997. The freshwater cenotes and nearby Mayan ruins add to the unique experience.
I look forward to sharing detailed information about our four night visit, but for now, please enjoy the stunning Cathedral of San Gervasio.
May your journey be your muse,
Rachel
