Earlier this year I discovered my own little taste of France in San Francisco. Any restaurant that serves breakfast until 3:00pm, and has delicious coffee, is fine by me. And that is the case at Rigolo, a lovely little cafe in San Francisco that serves wonderful French food. When your day can start off with a delicious Croque Croissant, what can go wrong?
Sometimes classic French food is a little too sauce-heavy for me, but Rigolo keeps it fresh and light, with interesting flavors and delicious twists on classic French cuisine. The chef is a native of France and his influences span from countryside rustic French cooking to the sophisticated tastes of Paris. Many dishes are quite rich, but they are well balanced, so it’s never overwhelming.
The decor is whimsical without being over the top, there are high ceilings and a lot of natural light which adds to the laid back neighborhood feel. They focus on local produce and pastries, making this a truly charming spot, well worth a visit. They are located on busy California St, which goes from one end of town to the other so it’s an easy stop during a busy day in the city!
Do you have a favorite spot in your town that you visit for international flavors?
