Many people enjoy the spa at hotels while on vacation, whether that’s a five-star hotel or a three-star, more and more hotels are featuring spas as a main attraction point.
The folks over at Hotel Chatter put together a great list of what to look for in an amazing spa — some of them seem pretty obvious, while others are really pretty great points!
Separating men from women — this may seem like a given, but not all spas do this. I was recently at the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, California and they did this particularly well. There was a clearly defined communal area, with very obvious signs, but for the most part, women were together for the various saunas and whirlpools, as well as making out way to the treatment rooms.
Another point Hotel Chatter makes that I particularly like is a well-stocked Spa bar — this does not mean alcohol (definitely not in a spa), but water, tea, fruit, nuts, snacks are always appreciated and really make a big difference. The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles is a great example of this. Not only do they have water in their beautiful waiting room, they also have nuts, fruit, other little pleasantries. I hadn’t had a chance to eat before going to the spa, so I really appreciated this little touch!
Those are just a couple of my must-haves when I go to a spa. Check out Hotel Chatter for even more great things to check out when going to a spa. And having high standards? This is definitely a place where this is A-OK!
