Luxury travel and family travel aren’t often uttered in the same breath. But it certainly doesn’t have to be that way.
I write a lot about moms traveling. Everything from Girlfriend Getaways, to solo trips and yes, even family travel with kids.
I’m sure it’s no surprise that traveling with kids takes some dedicated advance planning and a heavy dose of added travel mojo.
And traveling in STYLE with kids is even more challenging.
Here are two fabulous tour operators putting together luxury trips packed with enjoyment, excitement and comfort for the whole family.
On their active adventure family tours, Classic Journeys provides a range of planned activities meticulously planned with kids in mind. Lots of walking opportunities through villages and countryside, plenty of eating local cuisine and intimate cultural experiences at local markets and in local homes. You’ll even find chaperoned activities only for kids, so parents get a break as well.
Combine this with some of the worlds finest hotels, and this is a fun, educational (shhhh don’t tell the kids!), comfortable and relaxing vacation for the whole family. The Classic Journeys Morocco Journey caught my eye. I’ve traveled across Africa for the past 15 years and so I know first hand what a difficult destination it is for family travel.
Spending a few nights in an “over the top mansion” sounds right up my alley.
One thing you won’t find? Logistical hassles. Every detail is planned and coordinated so you don’t have to worry about a think.
How about a sailing adventure? With Sunsail Sailing Adventures all you need is a love of the ocean wind in your hair. No sailing experience is required on their Flotilla trips, which include up to 14 individual yachts, a guide, hostess and engineer to assist throughout the journey. If you have older kids who yawn at the thought of a sleepy beach vacation with Mom and Dad, sailing might just be the perfect option. With Punch Parties, beach BBQ’s, fun regattas and other social events throughout the week the whole family all be meeting people and having a blast.
Yacht rental includes clean linens, fuel, dinghy tender and outboard engine. Food and activities are of course extra, but Sunsail is happy to purchase some provisions for you in advance, eliminating stress as you begin your yachting adventure. Hire a skipper for only $185 extra per day and let someone else do the driving (the only way to go in my book!)
For those of us who enjoy the finer things while traveling, and want to bring the kids, what else would you suggest?
