As I was pulling together this month’s round up of interesting 20-something travel links, I realized my most recent post here was last month’s links.
The blog has been completely silent for a month – far too long.
So what have I been up to? I’ve actually been writing and working more than ever, trying to maintain blogging with new freelance writing gigs (and apparently not doing so well at). I also spent a couple months at home, which was great, but didn’t have me feeling like blogging about travel.

The greatest reason why I enjoy traveling and living abroad is that it makes me more aware and an active participant in my life. When I’m somewhere familiar, I too easily slip into not noticing the details of everyday life or what’s new and different. Being home and catching up with family and friends was wonderful, but as I fell back into the familiar it became harder to come up with ideas for what to post about. I know Seattle is an interesting place to visit and I could share a lot about it…but coming from the area, it’s difficult for me to see what would be novel and interesting for other people to read about.
Now I’m back in Thailand, ready to start a new chapter of my experiences here and learning to work for myself. When I first left home I knew I wanted to live and work in other countries, while continuing to travel and experiencing different ways of life to determine how I most want my life to be like, but I didn’t know exactly what that would look like. I still don’t, but after teaching in Thailand then going through time of not really working and trying to figure it all out, things are starting to shape up in a different way.
Thanks for reading with me along the journey.
If I go MIA here again, you can always check out my personal blog, Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter. If I can’t manage getting an entire blog post up, I can usually handle piecing together 140 characters….
