This week we’re celebrating Loi Krathong – Wednesday and Thursday will have lots of lanterns, lights, fireworks, floats and parades. Traffic will be horrible, you’ll have to dodge firecrackers and sparklers, and keep an eye out for floating lanterns that aren’t quite floating high enough and instead coming down on you, raining burning lighter fluid.
I know it’s blurry…but this would be a burning lantern stuck in a tree. With fireworks going off behind it. Also, I should note that there were no firetrucks in sight…
Really though, it is a beautiful holiday…just a tad dangerous at times.
The festivities started this past Saturday with a release of thousand of lanterns.
I’m posting about this special release, and the rest of the Loi Krathong shenanigans, over at my new blog, Paper Planes. You can also see more photos on my Facebook Page that will make you want to book your ticket to Thailand for 2013.
