“I love taking pictures of windows and doors when I travel. It started ten years ago on a spur-of-the-moment impulse when I was in Skagway, Alaska, and has been a personal tradition of mine ever since…Windows and doors represent my travels.” Debby Lee Jagerman
Yup, that’s a quote from yours truly, from a travel photography book by yours truly, due out soon!! How exciting!! Packed with nearly 250 of my photographs of windows and doors, spanning 10 years of travel, with 10 countries represented in the book, in just-shy-of 100 pages, “To Open and Unlock: A Collection of Photographs of Windows and Doors from Ten Countries,” also contains some short stories and thoughts about my experiences in each of the countries represented in the book.
These photos here are just a few from the chapter on the Camino de Santiago. Symbols of the Camino, like yellow arrows, scallop shells, and the words “Camino de Santiago,” are sometimes placed near windows and doors of people’s homes and other buildings that are along the way, such as in the first picture of this blog.
The other pictures in this blog are a few of the “blue” windows and doors of the Camino.
More details will follow in the next week or so on how to order your very own copy of my windows and doors travel photography book!! How exciting!! This book would make a great addition to your coffee table in your living room. And great gifts for friends and family on your Holiday shopping list.
I also include some poignant, and some funny, quotes in my book, like this one from Milton Berle:
If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.
Sweet Travels!
Thoughts, Tips, and Translations for Today’s Blog:
Contemplative Thought from the Camino: Sometimes, after 10 years of travel, and thousands of photographs taken, you just feel like creating a photography book.
Packing Tip for the Pilgrimage: A camera is optional on the Camino. Some people, like me, like to take lots and lots of pictures during my walking experience. Others choose to experience the walk without taking a single photograph.
Spanish Translation of the Santiago: Windows and Doors = Ventanas y Puertas. To Open and Unlock = Para Abrir y Desbloquear.
