You’ve come a long way, baby. Well, Gore-TeX has come a long way in the years since it was first introduced (1969 in case you were wondering).
Pacific Northwesterners have to pay a lot of attention to ways to stay dry. So… waterproof jackets, gloves and shoes get pulled out of my storage every fall.
And to that end, I’m not very high maintenance when it comes to any of those items, including shoes. I want them to be comfortable. I want them to keep my feet dry when it’s raining or snowing. And I want them to look good. I should also mention that I’m a jeans gal – more often than not that’s what you’ll see me in. So a nice(r) pair of shoes helps to dress up what would otherwise be me dressing down comfortably.
I do like ECCO shoes (like the BIOM Lite Mary Janes I recently reviewed) and was pleased when the folks at ECCO wanted me to try out something from their fall collection.
The GTX Ankle Bootie seems to fill all my (low maintenance) requirements. They slip on easily so I can grab them and go. They’re quite comfortable – I could even see myself wearing these for on a trade show floor for a day – and they dress up my jeans :-).
What I Love
- I prefer flats over heels but I like the height on these
- They are really comfortable and easy to slip on with zippers located on the inside ankles
- The style is such that the size 8’s on my frame don’t look huge
- The uppers are soft enough that if I had to pack these in my luggage, they wouldn’t take up a ton of room
Not So Much
- These are a little pricey ($190 list) for ankle boots BUT the fact that they are lined with Gore-Tex, means they’ll last longer than most other boots I have
Good For…
- City travel
- Out and about town
Available on Amazon starting at $145.
Travel Well,
Beth
