New this year from Keen is the La Paz Sandal.
Don’t let the delicate look of this open-toed shoe fool you. It has more bite than you’d expect from something so pretty.
The backstrap, though thin, holds the shoe in place very well and doesn’t come undone, as I’ve experienced with other sandals that have thin Velcro straps.
The footbed is quite soft, making them comfortable to wear all day (which I did on a recent trip to Santa Fe).
The bottom has siping (thin slits) to improve traction so you won’t slip on wet surfaces like on a beach boardwalk or a muddy trail. I have to admit, however, that I’m reluctant to wear mine in adverse conditions because I want them to stay looking good!
In usual Keen fashion, they do look awesome and are available in some of the best colors I’ve seen from from these folks yet including Sweet Grape (pictured), Navy, Rust, Coffee Liquer and Harvest Gold.
My one criticism of the La Paz sandal is that the adjustable strap that goes over the top of the foot in the front slips open within about 20 steps. While I never felt like the sandals would slip off as a result, it’s not a feature that works well.
Sizes run a bit small. I’m generally an 8 and found with these that my toes hang just a bit over the edge.
All in all, a perfect shoe to add to your summer collection. Now if summer would only arrive!
Oh, and these run from $26 to $51 on Amazon.
Travel Well,
Beth

Have wondered about these… good to know that they fit better and feel better than one would think.

I spotted this sandal in one of those adventure gear oufitter stores & loved it. I think it’s the perfect sandal for touring the temples of Thailand but still looking good. Probably will go back and buy them.
