Spring is always that awkward time when you’re not quite sure how to dress. Warm days and cool nights make you dress in layers and keep a light jacket nearby. And when you’re traveling to the mountains or beach during the spring, temps can be even more dramatic.
That’s why I was delighted to test out both the Artemis (left) and Valkyrie (below) hoodies from Triple Aught Design.
The Artemis is my choice of jackets as I head out the door. Made from Australian Merino wool, it is warm warm warm and has a perfectly feminine cut. Though the hood is excellent for added warmth, my favorite features are the thumb holes. They give me some added coziness when I slip these on, whether over bare skin or light gloves (and I wear gloves well into the spring as my hands tend to get cold).
Two (non-zippered) front pockets are good for slipping your hands in to or keeping a couple of small items like a set of keys. Bummer that there are no secret interior pockets, however. I love secret inside pockets!
The Valkyrie is another lovely hoody. Made of Polartec Wind Pro fabric, it protects you from 4 times the amount of wind than regular fleece. Admittedly it is a bit bulky (meaning that it doesn’t have the same form fitting cut that the Artemis does) but this little added room is great for layering as there’s room for a couple of shirts underneath.
The main front zippered pockets sit a bit high on this jacket and are quite large – apparently so you can avoid having to carry a daybag or purse. And small zippered pockets on the arms can easily hide your keys and cash (secret pockets, yay!).
The Valkyrie also features my favorite thumb holes. It, too, has a feminine cut but because it’s a bit bulkier than the Artemis, you can’t see my girly figure quite as much 🙂
Either or both would be a great addition to your spring collection. The Artemis is available for $169 and the Valkyrie for $215, both from the Triple Aught Design website.
Stay warm and enjoy!
Travel Well,
Beth

The hoodies are become all season preference now a days. Mostly the fleece hoodies come with thick material, so cotton ones will be cool.

For me personally, I like light, water repellent gear with a microfiber type fabric. For spring, the cooler the better but if I am going to buy one, I would want one that would work for both spring and fall.
