Wild Life on Lummi
I can’t leave Lummi Island behind without chatting about the beauty of the island itself and sharing some of the photos of the “wild” life and landscape. The island is small enough that a long walk could easily take you half way around the island. Along the way, you may see views of Mt. Baker, encounter llamas and sheep, enjoy excellent beach combing and see countless signs for eggs, fresh fruit and veggies for sale in the driveways of the residents. You’ll undoubtedly pass by artist studios set up over much of the island as well.

By the way, this weekend is the Artists’ Studio Tour. You can spend the day or weekend visiting more than 20 artist’s homes and shopping for some beautiful art.
To get to the island, take the ferry located just north of Bellingham and just west of I-5. It’s a ten minute ferry ride and Bellingham is about two hours (depending on traffic) north of Seattle.
Happy Travels!
