I’m obviously more of an adventure traveler than I am a business traveler BUT there are definitely times when I need to pull myself together and attend a meeting or conference and want to look all professional. Not wanting to drag a backpack with me to these sorts of things, the Briggs & Riley Move Business Case is just the thing.
The first thing you will notice when you pick up the Briggs & Riley Move Business Case by the handle is that it tilts to one side. This is due to the fact that the shoulder strap ends don’t attach to the center line of the bag. At first glance this looks like a flaw but when you carry the bag on your shoulder or loop the strap across your chest you find that this “tilted” bag actually conforms to your body better than bags without this feature. Additionally, there is an (un-intended?) safety feature that comes with the “tilted” bag, that is the outside zippered pouch is against your body making it difficult for anyone to quietly unzip an outer compartment and lift out your valuables. So what seems like a potential flaw isn’t one at all.
In all other aspects this bag is superior to others. You can easily stuff it with your laptop, Kindle, notepad, document folders, business cards, travel docs, lunch-in-flat-Tupperware or yogurt container. It’s so versatile that you can overstuff it and make the bag too heavy for its size.
Available on Amazon for under $170
Which brings me to another great feature: the shock-absorbing strap mounts. The straps hook to high-quality clips for the shoulder strap. In turn, the clips are attached to the bag on semi-elastic highly-durable mounts so that even when you have a heavy load, the shoulder strap doesn’t dig into your shoulder.
A small top pocket is bigger than it appears making a convenient spot for all manner of things that would normally end up in your pockets but are better placed here; laptop video adapters, power chargers, cell-phone headset, etc. More than enough room for all of these items (with the exception of your Mac charging cord which has a huge brick converter on it that needs to go elsewhere).
In addition to the above bennies, this bag features:
- a pullout sleeve for easily getting through airport security
- a padded outside pocket for a cell phone or iPod
- 3 separate interior pockets
- a lifetime warranty
How would I improve this bag?
I live in Seattle so having a convenient outside pocket along one edge to stow a compact umbrella would make this bag ideal. As a business bag, it would be hard to find a replacement for the Briggs & Riley Move Business Case.
