Epson Printer

Epson Artison 800

This might seem like kind of an odd thing to include on a travel site. After all, you can’t actually take this with you on a trip.

However, you CAN do amazing things with the Epson 800 Artisan printer when you return.

Jon and I went to Vancouver Island a couple of weeks ago and took a ton of pics with my new digital camera (a gift from Santa). When we got back, I plugged the flashcard directly into the printer, loaded it with 4 x 6 glossy paper and began printing out color photos. Instantly.

OK – so I’m easy to please. But I was over the moon because it was so simple to print my own images. I’m often sending photos to friends and family and have to get myself organized, put all the images on a disc or memory stick and then schlep off to the local pharmacy to print them. So, uh, I guess I’m helping with global warming by not having to drive my car, right? HA HA

I work from home and often find myself moving from room to room for a change of scenery throughout my work day. The Epson 800 is wireless which means I don’t have to get up off my duff to print docs from my laptop. While I’m not an early adopter of technology, Jon is. He’s been bugging me for a loooong time about going wireless with our printer and I didn’t see the need. Now that we’ve got it – I LOVE it!

Allow me to give a shameless plug for the printer by listing some of its features:

  • 5 in 1 including printer, fax, scanner, copier and “ultra HD photo” capabilities (supposedly last 4x longer than lab prints)
  • Wireless
  • Two-sided print capability
  • Easy printing directly from memory cards
  • Photos print as quickly as 10 seconds

While it did take some time to get the wireless set up (probably an hour for each of our computers), the ‘wow’ factor once it’s set up is worth it.

If you’re a budding photographer or simply want to make some quick pics, you’ll find this printer to be both easy to use and convenient.
