Just because summer is officially over doesn’t mean that we have to pack all of our warm weather clothes away. We’re Wanderlusters, after all, and that means that we need to be prepared for traipsing off to a warm destination when it gets cold in our own neck of the woods. With that in mind, I knew it wasn’t too late to tell you about Outdoor Research’s Solitaire Capris for women.
These were just one of two pairs of pants that I took with me to Papua New Guinea in August. I knew that for most of the trip I didn’t want to wear clothes that were too revealing (shorts) but I also knew it was going to be HOT. So these capris were perfect.
What was so great about them? First, they are made of Supplex nylon, which is super lightweight and perfect for when you’re active in the heat. They dry out quickly, which I discovered after giving them a good washing in the hotel sink.
The Solitaire Capris are also SPF 30, giving your skin some protection from the sun, and they fit just below the calf, making them modest but still cool.
There are two pockets in the front and a snap-closed cargo pocket on the side (this was the perfect size for my small camera). There are also two rear pockets with snaps, but I’ve never used these. (They’re actually kinda awkward to use due to the snaps, plus, there’s nothing really I want to keep in my back pocket…)
I have a pair of XS/petite which are just the right size for me and though an XS doesn’t always fit me, these do.
These retail for anywhere from about $40 – $65 on Amazon (depending on color). I’d say this is a pretty good deal given they should last you for many trips to come!
(And for the record, I did have a pair of shorts with me in Papua New Guinea that I wore when I spent a few days on the coast.)
Over all I ended up really liking these and am confident that they’ll regularly get packed in my bag for any trip where temps are warmer than 70 degrees.
Travel Well,
Beth
