Definitely not your usual summer flip flop. The Flip EcoTread from Chaco is a souped up and sturdy version of this popular style that I’m confident will last me for years.
Chaco is known for their sturdy outdoor shoes – often with straps that hold the shoe in place. These are great for hiking around and for the beach. But this flip flop, with its more causal style, is definitely a great addition to my other summer sandals because I can just slip into them and run out the door.
On my first test with these, I walked about 4.5 miles. They are more comfortable than other flip flops I own, likely because the footbed is harder than most others, providing extra support.
While I don’t have arch problems, some people might appreciate the curvature of the footbed.
I did have a bit of a problem at first with the strap rubbing on the top of my foot just behind my big toe. It scraped (not blistered) just a bit but now I don’t even notice it.
What I love:
- Color options
- Sturdy material (I have total confidence that these will last a long time)
- Great foot support
Not so much:
- I originally ordered an 8 and it was too small (I’m usually between an 8 and 8.5). The 9’s are a perfect fit.
- If the toe piece were a little softer, I may not have had the rub on the top of my foot
Pretty much thrilled to have these for the summer (and for Hawaii in the winter!)
Available from Eastern Mountain Sports for $60.
