Buddha with offerings
With just a few days in Bangkok, Jon and I decided to join part of our Bhutan group on a half day tour of the Temples of Bangkok. It allowed us to tool around in the heat in an air-conditioned mini-van while getting to know some of the folks that we’d be spending the next 12 days with AND seeing some of the most spectacular temples in the country’s capital.

We toured several temple complexes including the Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho (where the Reclining Buddha lies) and Wat Mahathat.

This wrapped up our time in Bangkok and we were then off to Bhutan… YEAH!

I so enjoyed seeing your photos of Bangkok and reading your descriptions. The last time I was there was in 1974, and it turned out to be my favorite city in Asia. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed being back there, Meg. I loved all the fresh fruit from the street stalls and seeing spirit houses on every street corner.
