Girl Getaways - Are you Upscale or Adventurous?
According to a poll of 246 American Express Travel agents, there’s an increase in “girls-getaways”. Of those vacations, women are seeking “more active and luxurious vacations” (though I’m wary that those two words can be coupled together!).
The poll also showed there has been a significant uptick in spa, beach and shopping vacations as well as golf, skiing, Scuba diving and biking.
Many of these women are traveling with female friends or relatives while there was also an increase in women traveling solo (go girls!).
What about YOU? Do you prefer upscale trips that take you away to a spa or resort or do you prefer an adventurous journey where your Tevas and day pack are your best friends?

I prefer BOTH. I just returned from an adventurous trip backpacking, sleeping in caves and hostels. But, next year I will travel with some gal friends in a more luxurious fashion. As one of them stated: “A good spa is the only thing that separates us from the animals.”
I admit that as I get older the lure of a luxury vacation is calling my name, but I still love the feel of a backpack and knowing that all that I’m traveling with is in one bag.
