Getting your zen on either by yoga or meditation is the hot new exercise of choice. Cocktails are the hot new drink of choice. With OM Organic Mixology, a recently launched, bottled cocktail brand, it’s an enlightened combination of the two trends.
I recently sampled all three of OM Organic Mixology’s ready-made vodka cocktail drinks. And at 15 percent alcohol, it was easy to gulp down all three on a balmy day atop the roof of the swank Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. It’s a feel good drink in more ways than one. It’s the world’s first USDA certified organic bottled cocktail. There’s no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and it’s sweetened with agave nectar.
The bottle is light-weight glass, reducing consumption. AND the best part – for every bottle sold, a tree is planted in Haiti via the non-profit Tress for the Future. It makes me want to buy a whole case, maybe they’ll plant the trees between my apartment and the daycare next door as a sound barrier in addition to the ones their planting in Haiti.
OM Organic Mixology cocktails were designed by longtime mixologist maven and Edible Cocktails: From Garden to Glass – Seasonal Cocktails with a Fresh Twist author Natalie Bovis, also known as the Liquid Muse. It was also co-founded by Jason Monkarsh and his wife (pictured on left of Natalie Bovis, Jason is on the right).
The three flavors with one more available for the holidays include:
Wild Cranberry & Blood Orange – This is a beautiful ruby color and the least sweet of all three the flavors, therefore my favorite. If you’ve had a cocktail with me before, you know sweet drinks usually aren’t my thing.
Coconut Water & Lychee – For the coconut water lover, this is for you. Add rum and ice, throw it in a blender – voila – you’ve got a modern twist a Pina Colada.
Meyer Lemon & Ginger – This flavor transported me to India. Add a liquid form of yogurt and it’s an adult lassi beverage.
Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt – Although I didn’t get to sample this one, I can imagine this will make a lovely Chocolate Martini by adding vodka or just simply as an after dinner drink, served chilled and neat. This flavor will be rolling out just in time for the holidays.
As an added bonus, each bottle is adorned with an ohm emblem. Wear it as a necklace, bracelet or simply hang it somewhere as a reminder to remain in the yumaste ‘spirit’ of things.
