Finally, there’s an altruistic reason to drink! Imbibe Magazine has launched Negroni Week, from May 27-June 3, 2013. Bars across the country (and some around the world) are mixing up their favorite Negroni variations and donating $1 from each one sold to a charity of their choice. For example, many of the Los Angeles bars have banned together for Negroni Week to donate their proceeds to Oklahoma Tornado relief.
What’s in a Negroni?
Imbibe Magazine chose the cocktail of the week wisely. It’s really a crowd pleaser, whether you’re a lightweight or boozy drinker. It’s like the Cosmopolitan of the 80’s in terms of mass popularity at the moment. A classic Negroni is made with a 1:1:1 ratio of sweet vermouth, Campari, and gin, but bartenders are doing some crazy versions of it, like this albino Negroni made by Beau u Bois at Corner Door in Culver City, CA.
Where to Get a Charitable Negroni in Your City
There are close to 100 bars across the U.S. participating, from Los Angeles to Louisville, and everywhere in between. If you live near any of them, be sure to swing by and enjoy a great cocktail for a great cause. You can also follow along @imbibe #negroniweek on twitter for new bar additions.
