Van Gogh Vodka launches their Peanut Butter & Jelly Vodka with the assumption Americans would rather drink the iconic sandwich rather than eat it. Not sure how this is going to go over with Europeans who generally abhor the taste of peanut butter, but it is a ‘spreading’ like wild strawberry jam in US drink news.
Van Gogh Vodka describes the aroma of their PB&J vodka as predominantly of peanuts complemented by the fresh fruit aroma of raspberry. On the palate, the roles are switched with the raspberry taking center stage supported by the toasty flavor of peanut butter and a hint of vanilla on the side. I’m intrigued.
Can you see James Bond siding up to a sleek bar in Monaco ordering his PB&J martini shaken not stirred? Maybe not but surely Barney the Dinosaur or Pee Wee Herman might.
From a vodka company who offers Caramel, Double Espresso, Grape and Banana flavors, I guess it’s not too nutty they’ve launched a PB & J vodka too.
If you’re a fan of doing it the ol’ fashioned way, minus the bread, here are a few recipes to recreate the iconic Americana childhood lunch of Peanut Butter and Jelly:
PB & J Shooter
3/4 oz Frangelico Liqueur
3/4 Chambord Liqueur
Mix ingredients in shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain in shot glass.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Martini
2 Parts ABSOLUT VODKA
1 Part Strawberry Puree
1 Part Hazelnut Liqueur
1 Part Black Currant Liqueur
1 Whole Strawberry
Fill shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a strawberry.
