LIBATION: 2009 Goat Bubbles, Rosé Sparkling Wine
LOCATION: Santa Maria Valley, CA
LIQUID TRAVEL DESTINATION: Lompoc Wine Ghetto
LEGACY: With a name like Goat Bubbles, it just begs hilarity and celebration. Norm Yost, winemaker and chief goat herder of Flying Goat Cellars, says about his delicious garnet-colored rose sparkling wine, “it releases a plethora of tiny bubbles that would make Don Ho proud.”
The effusive bubbles make it perfect to pop open to toast a momentous occasion such as the launch of the Wanderlush Diary on Wanderlust and Lipstick or as an aperitif. The strong notes of strawberry and citrus certify it to stand alone, food pairing not necessary but amenable as always. $32 a bottle.
Located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, the Flying Goat Cellars Tasting Room, is a part of an industrial warehouse complex of thirteen small-batch wine makers.
No sweeping vineyard vistas or fussy gift shops here, just down and dirty tasting rooms pouring a bevy of quality wines crafted with care from the Santa Barbara County area.
