Two Women Who Know No Boundaries
At the mention of travel, there is always something or someone that rises up to block our path towards the journey we’ve been dreaming about. Whether it be money, jobs, family or friends, these things or people can cause doubt and make us feel the journey isn’t possible. Lisa Chavis and Cheryl MacDonald are two women and two friends who prove that travel is possible, despite the naysayers and other obstacles. In What Boundaries? Live Your Dream! Lisa and Cheryl fulfill their dream of traveling around the world and writing about it and hope to inspire others to fulfill their dreams as well, even if it means giving up the comfortable life.
Lisa and Cheryl are two peas in a pod – one is the planner and one is the follower. Readers will recognize themselves in either one of these ladies. Their contrasting personalities turn out to be the perfect combination as they road trip through Austria, Germany, France, and Italy. However, whether they are at Oktoberfest in Germany or La Tomatina festival in Spain, they both approach each event or city with so much eagerness and excitement and are always grateful that this is their life and that they have the chance to go on a trip like this.
They never take anything for granted either. They remind readers that taking the risk of going on a big trip reminds you of how important the little things are like a proper working dryer or knowing exactly how to get from Point A to Point B. You will laugh and learn that a good tip for drying your clothes is hanging them from the back of your car as you are whizzing down the freeway and I’m pretty sure they could guide you down the backroads of some obscure town to get you to your hostel if you need directions- they got lost and found their way so many times. They found more than their way through Europe though and realized that no matter how old you are, you can still make changes in your life and achieve dreams you never thought possible.
Lisa and Cheryl have blogged for Wanderlust and Lipstick and you can now follow their new adventures at What Boundaries?.

Having had a fairly recent reversal of fortune I had just about reisgned myself to giving up on foreign travel and pinning my wanderlust to the U.S. I was saved by my son’s request to join him for a low-budget stay in Mexico City. No, it wasn’t the type of travel to which I had become accustomed, but as good in many ways and better in some. We stayed in a hostel in the Zocalo for about $13/night per person, and shared a very inexpensive older – and more comfortable – hotel room for about the same amount. We met backpackers from half-a-dozen countries, partied in small hostel bars, became experts on the subway (30 pesos buys a trip across the city)and spent an entire day on city-wide tour buses. I’ve found that monetary challenges don’t have to be a barrier – a slight change in expectations and the world is mine again.
Hi Helene, That’s such a great story. Most people think that they can’t travel with their children too – that age difference is a barrier but I think it’s wonderful you could travel with your son and do things that weren’t expected. If you haven’t read this book it’s a great read and very inspiring just as much as your story. Thanks for visiting my blog!
