I started to notice a pattern in my film photographs from this last trip to Isla Mujeres. There were two times a day when the photos were completely saturated in a blue hue. Sunset and around 10am in the morning.
I remember taking the photo above after I set down my towel and beach bag on the bed I would retreat to, after a swim in the beautiful turquoise sea.
I must have taken this one afterward because this is the view to the left.
And the view to the right.
Yeah, no wonder I just want to go back! There is this beautiful blue magic hour on Playa Norte in the morning.
It was even strong near El Centro.
The sunset was magical too.
I used 100 speed cross process film for this set. The images always come out with super saturated colors when I use this particular film – which is why I love it.
I have to be careful using it in low light without a flash. It usually doesn’t turn out well unless I’m using an LC-A+<img src=”http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=traveltracks-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000YYDTVE” width=”1″ height=”1″ border=”0″ alt=”” style=”border:none !important; margin:0px !important;” />.
This is my public plea to Lomography to make their 100 speed xpro film again! Why has it been out of stock for so long? I’ve been stockpiling it and I’m down to my last roll. 🙁
May your journey be your muse,
Rachel
