I first visited Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico in April of 2012. I fell in love with the people and the color of the water, as well as the Cuban rum and Cuban food.
Just to be clear, none of these photos have been altered digitally in any way. I have added a watermark to them and that is all.
I say this because in this digital age, I see so many photographs that have obviously been created digitally…only to try and look like film.
Ferry ride back to Cancun to catch the flight home.
I played around with double exposures a lot and for them to have turned out so organically cool makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
AirTran recently added non-stop service from Austin to Cancun and I couldn’t be happier. The owners of Casa El Pio boutique hotel clued us in to this diamond of an island and now that we don’t have to go through DFW to get there, it’s a total breeze, and much more affordable!
Not altered. Just a double exposure where the bright sun had quite an effect.
There is an endless amount of inspiration on this small island and I am more intrigued with each visit.
Viva Mexico!
May your journey be your muse,
Rachel
