WanderFood Wednesday: The Best Thing I Ate This Week

Tuna cecviche with toasted amaranth at Hawksworth Restaurant, Vancouver

What was the best thing you ate this week?

For me, it was this yellowfin tuna ceviche from Vancouver’s Hawksworth Restaurant.

Like a traditional Latin American ceviche, this dish starts with fresh, raw fish cured in a tangy, citrus marinade.

Hawksworth’s version takes it up a notch by serving the tuna on a bed of toasted amaranth. This crispy grain has a hearty crunch—almost like Grape-Nuts cereal—that provides a delicious foil for the buttery tuna and its sharp lime-infused marinade.

What about you? What was the tastiest thing on your plate this week, either in your hometown or on the road?

Share a photo of this week’s deliciousness with WanderFood readers by joining the WanderFood Wednesday blog carnival. Here’s how:

  1. Post a food photo on your site.

  2. Add a brief description about the photo—or a longer food-focused post—and include a link to WanderFood Wednesday.

  3. Add your blog name and post title to the “Mr. Linky” form below, with a link directly to your post (not to your main blog). That’s it!

If you go:
Hawksworth Restaurant is at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, 801 W. Georgia St., Vancouver, BC, 604-673-7000. The tuna ceviche is currently on the menu for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner nightly.

Tasty Travels!

Carolyn

That looks pretty tasty. I’d have to say the best thing I ate all week was orecchiette in a garlic tomato sauce.

The best thing I ate this week was leftover Indian food – chicken curry to be exact – that I made last week. It never ceases to amaze me how much better Indian food tastes when it’s had time to percolate a little.
