WanderFood Wednesday Mystery Dish: Eat Your Vegetables…for Dessert

My husband once made broccoli ice cream – a not-entirely-successful concoction.
Perhaps he needs to take lessons from the pastry chef who created this week’s mystery dish, which includes an unexpected vegetable ingredient.
Can you guess the vegetable in this dessert? The dish? Where I sampled it?
Please leave a comment with your guesses.
And if you’d like to share a food photo of your own—mysterious or not—join the WanderFood Wednesday blog carnival. Here’s what to do:
- Post a food photo on your site.
- Add a brief description about the photo—or a longer food-focused post—and include a link to WanderFood Wednesday.
- Add your blog name and the title of your photo or post to the “Mr. Linky” form below, with a link directly to your post (not to your main blog). That’s it!
Tasty Travels!

I’m going to guess Acorn Squash?
My guess: Parsnips. Of course it could be any winter squash as well, or carrots, or sweet potatoes.
Pumpkin? (The only vegetable that belongs in a dessert in my opinion!
My guess is parsnip, although I kind of want it to be turnip, but I just think that parsnip makes more sense (sweeter, richer flavor) in what appears to be some kind of cheesecake? Gosh, I hope it’s something like cauliflower!
I’m guessing the vegetable used to make this pie is in the gourd family which includes pumpkins, squash and calabaza. It looks good. How did it taste?
Carrots?
Good ideas, everyone, but so far, none are correct! Anyone have another guess?
Is it Persimmon?
@Jahnavi, persimmon is another good guess, but I’m afraid it’s still not right!
I’ve just interviewed the chef who created this mystery dish, so all will be revealed soon. Stay tuned…
