When I’m on the road, there’s nothing better than a really authentic local meal. And it doesn’t get much more real than these greens being cooked up on a family’s “stove” on the beach in Papua New Guinea. These were cooked up with coconut scrapings and water that were made fresh as the greens were steaming.
In another pot, potatoes and taro were steaming, which resulted in this meal:
Notice that this was served up on banana leaves. The only noticeable difference of how this might have been presented to a local, are the forks. New Guineans eat with their hands – and why not? Who wants to do dishes?
