WanderFood Wednesday: Glazed Croissants… Why???

I’m really not sure if there’s something more disgusting than this or not. These are glazed croissants that I found at my local Safeway supermarket.
I love croissants. As a matter of fact, I live in a neighborhood where there’s an award-winning French cafe, Bakery Nouveau, with possibly the best croissants on the West Coast. Definitely Seattle but it could be the West Coast, for sure.
Anyway, while searching for some fresh rolls the other day at Safeway (perhaps my first mistake), I came across these croissants and nearly busted a gut. Why on earth dunk these little delicacies in glaze? Well, I suppose if they aren’t so tasty, that’s one way to cover it up.
Seeing these reminded me of a website you might want to check out: This is Why Your Fat. And we all wonder why there’s an obesity problem in the U.S…

ugh. i would def not eat these!!
Oops! Forgot to put my food topic in the name field. The recipe I contributed was for a vegan Caribbean eggplant spread that we’ve been making quite often here at the house. Interested in checking out the Byblos link as I am a HUGE Lebanon fan.
At one point in my life, I might have tried these. It was a short lived point and fortunately that time has long passed. There are so many delicious foods available it’s hard to believe resorting to dunking croissants in a sugary glaze is required to make them more appealing. Then again, Safeway isn’t so much to blame as those that purchase them. Which goes to the website THIS IS WHY YOU’RE FAT’s point.
But here’s the sad part…..someone purchased that?!?
HA HA HA. You’re right. That IS the sad part!
Ugh! Not for me. I like my lilies AND my croissants ungilded
I like plain croissants but the glazed ones sound a bit too sickly sweet for my tastes.
P.S. I also forgot to add a description of my post to my link: It’s about going organic and Irish butcher shops!
