WanderFood Wednesday: Malasadas on Oahu

Malasadas are deep-fried donuts that are often filled with a flavored cream. Though they are of Portuguese original, they can be found on Oahu at Leonards, where people line up outside on a weekend morning to wait for their fresh treats.

Have you ever seen such a happy malasada-eater?

Jon’s malasada was filled with coconut (haupia) cream.

Tourists, mostly Japanese on this Saturday morning, patiently wait outside. The line actually moves along rather quickly.
