India Thali Plate

This is a thali plate and is one of my very favorite photos (and meals) from a trip to India a couple of years ago.

A thali consists of a variety of  dishes from one given region of India. It usually includes a couple of hot (spicy) items such as dhal and lentils and at least one item for cooling such as raita (yogurt). Naan or some other sort of bread is served for dipping and scooping each item.

I enjoyed this thali plate at an outdoor cafe in Hampi, a tiny village situated between Bangalore and Mumbai not too far off the railway line.

Glad to see another foodie in the travel world. Coincidentally I have also announced plans for a food & travel carnival! Great mind think alike.
