WanderFood Wednesday: Sugar Rush

I’m a sugarholic. Wanna woo me? Buy me a cupcake, bake me a cake, invite me for cookies. But expect me to go right to sleep because that’s exactly what sugar does to me – makes me wanna snooze.
My fab sister-in-law likes me. And when I visit her in NJ, she makes a special trip to the best bakery in town (please don’t ask me which one – I don’t know). This was a box of goodies we all got to share in one night – it includes Napoleans (oh how I love these and you canNOT find one of any quality in Seattle) and some creamy pastry-like pockets of heaven topped with a cherry.
Of course I ate them right before bedtime so I could just go to sleep and dream good thoughts.

YUM! If you are falling asleep after sugar you might be mildly hypoglycemic, balance with protein and you should be ok (or ask your doc).
Here in Marin County, it’s all about Victoria Pastries in Greenbrae. Let me know when you’re in town and we’ll go for a fresh Eclaire (cream or custard filled).
They made my wedding cake, too.
YUM!
i love baked goods – these look yummy!
@Michele – Indeed I think I am slightly hypoglycemic but I do keep a check on these things and no worries about diabetes. Oh I am SO at Victoria Pastries when I’m back down there. I’m planning a trip to the Bay Area in Feb when I speak at a bunch of REI’s.
Yummmmy! Sugarholics unite! My brother just had a birthday bash and one of his friend bought this amazingly delicious chocolate cake. It’s got the perrrrfectttt balance of bitter chocolate, sweetness and texture! Amazing I tell you! I’ve kept it stashed at one corner of the fridge for my late night sugar cravings…! =D
The Napoleans look heavenly~
I have to say however, I hate cherries.. Dunno why.. they tasted weird imho..
