WanderFood Wednesday: California Pizza?

I’m a pizza snob.
Usually only East Coast pizza will do.
I recently stayed with a friend in the Bay Area area, Castro Valley to be exact, and was quite doubtful when my friend told me about “the best” pizza place just a mile from her house. Something about awards and late night TV talk shows and the Food Network.
OK, OK, I’ll check it out.
I did and it was… well pretty darn good.
The place is Pysano’s Pizzeria and indeed the owner, Tony Gemignani is known for this throwing. Pizza, not up. He’s won the Naples Pizza Making Contest and the joint is filled with photos of his gigs on late night talk shows.
The pizza, while not exactly perfect East Coast style, had a nice not-too-thick-crust and well spiced sauce. However, it did have just a bit too much cheese for my liking. Would I go back? Definitely.

the pizza looks very tasty! And too much cheese?! there is no such thing. thank you Beth for allowing me to link—I think this is a great idea! My post on the Solo Road Trip website is a recipe for sichuan green beans—yummy!
yum. i LOVE pizza. one place we used to order from, they put so much cheese on that you had to BLOT. when my neighbor told me this, i was pretty grossed out but i tell you, post-blotting, that pizza was incredible!
Thanks for the WanderFood Wednesday idea; I enjoyed the chance to contribute the totally-not-good-for-you Waffle House post.
Now I’ll be on the lookout for more foodie post ideas!
