Winter travelers, perk up—there exists a boot you can walk in and dance in, travel in and go out in. The Born Yolanda boots make a great winter walking shoe while looking incredibly good. As those of us in the northern hemisphere move into the cooler half of the year, it’s time that you can’t just strap on your sandals and call it a day on travel shoes. Winter shoes tend to add on warmth through clunkiness and only at the expense of cuteness.
Which is where these Born boots come into play. Personally, I own the Yolanda, though they have a number of different styles for different personality types—from no heel to high heel, many buckles or few. Whatever your style, the reason that I chose the boots was for the look. I envisioned wearing them once or twice a month for nice occasions. I patiently waited for the weather to cool down. And when it did, and I got my first taste of the boots, suddenly any plans to not wear these disappeared. I literally wore them every possible day—including on a trip to Vancouver that involved over 5 miles of walking around. In addition to being comfortable, these also fully served their original purpose—looking good. As a traveler who likes to eat, often at restaurants that might look disapprovingly at a pair of Chakos, these afforded me the perfect compromise-walk around all day, then waltz right into a fancy meal.
The only draw back I can see with these is that they are large, so packing them might be an issue. That said, I could eliminate many pairs of shoes with this one boot—walking shoe, fancy shoe, and (since I have mine in gray) they go with every outfit.
