It’s hard to believe that it is already the end of September. The weather is starting to turn, and it’s a little too chilly to wander around town in a t-shirt. Good thing I’ve got the new Emmett Crewneck Sweater from Toad&Co. to keep me warm. It’s a perfect lightweight sweater to wear on a cool fall day and is a great layer to have under your jacket after the sun goes down.
Made from 100% organic cotton, the Emmett Crewneck Sweater is comfortable and easy to take care of. If it gets a little dirty just throw it in the wash on a cool/wool gentle cycle and then lay it flat to dry. Unlike wool, which can feel a little scratchy, the cotton is smooth to the touch and feels pleasant next to the skin. I‘m a big fan of the woven shoulder yoke and forearm details, not only do they look cool, in that dusty library, national geographic, I’m a scholar but I also climb mountains kind of way, they also help the sweater keep its shape. The forearm details prevent you from pushing the sleeves up over your elbows (which, if you’re like me you have a bad habit of doing) and this in turn prevents the cuffs from stretching out and taking on that saggy tear drop shape associated with the sleeves on all the sweaters you’ve sent packing over the years.
I also really like the cut of this sweater. It is fairly trim, and sticks close to the body (unlike some sweaters which can be big and bulky and give you that Marshmallow Man* look). The trim cut makes it really comfortable to wear this sweater under a jacket, which as the days get cooler will become even more of an asset. It comes in two colors, Jeep, shown here (which, lets be honest, is not the name of a color) and my personal favorite, black. If you need a good lightweight sweater to get you through the fall, you can’t go wrong with this one.
The good:
- comfortable
- lightweight
- easy to take care of
- trim fit
The bad:
- hmmmm still thinking … nope, nothing bad.

The more you know: Straight from Wikipedia … “The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is a fictional character from the Ghostbusters franchise, which sometimes appears as a giant, lumbering paranormal monster.” I could not have described it any better myself.
Boring stuff: I received a free review sample for this review, but this did not affect the opinions that I expressed. All images via Toad&Co.
