One of our little secrets up here in the Pacific Northwest is how beautiful the summers are. When the rain stops and the sun is out, a place like Seattle is hard to beat. The only problem is that we’re so used to a temperate climate (hardly anyone has air conditioning) that when it gets above eighty-five degrees it can be a challenge to stay cool. One option is to sit in front of a fan in your boxers. But, sooner or later you have to leave the house and since nudity is generally frowned upon in Seattle (unless you’re riding a bike in the solstice parade*) you’re going to need a good shirt. The Coolant SS Shirt by Toad&Co is a perfect choice.
Made from 100% organic cotton and using an open-woven plaid to give it a little extra cooling power, the Coolant SS shirt has been in heavy rotation for me ever since the temperatures pushed past seventy degrees. I really like the feel of the fabric. It is comfortable but not flimsy and the cut on the shirt is trim, without feeling too tight. It’s been an ideal shirt for me this summer. A great choice for anything from barbecuing on the fourth of July to hanging out at the bar watching women’s world cup. Did you see that final game? Who scores from midfield?
I would also recommend this shirt if you have any summer travel plans. It falls into that casual/classy category which gives it far more versatility than an ironic t-shirt. It also packs down small and dries quickly. What more could you ask for.

The more you know: The Fremont solstice parade happens every year in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. It is renowned for having a large procession of naked bicyclists, many of whom are covered in colorful body paint.
boring stuff: I was provided with a free review sample of this shirt. This did not effect the opinions expressed in my review. Image via Toad&Co
