About wanderboomer

Marian figures she must have been a precocious child because she knew at age six that she wanted to travel the world. She blames it on her mother because she was hooked once her mother bought the book, Children of Many Lands. She would sit with her mother and her sister reading the stories of these imaginary characters living in exotic places. Once she learned to read this book on her own, she knew she was going places.

Today, she travels the world on her own terms. While she's not traveling as frequently as she would like, she's out there. And usually traveling on her own.

Marian lost her husband to cancer almost ten years ago, so her path in life is different from what she envisioned. She's learned that solo travel, like any kind of travel, has its ups and downs. She's learned a lot about people, life and herself as the result of her adventures.

She's a native Washingtonian (the East Coast variety) and lives in Northern Virginia where she teaches high school English and Creative Writing.
