Words fall short when it comes to the breathtaking beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. For that reason, I am going to let photographs do the talking when it comes to Angel’s Rest hike in Bridal Veil, Oregon. The trail head is located thirty minutes outside of Portland’s city center via I-84 eastbound. After a mild 2.4 mile ascent, Angel’s Rest offers a 270 degree view of the Columbia Gorge. The summit sits on an exposed bluff on the western end of the Gorge that is perfect for picnicking, relaxing, and/or contemplating life’s intricacies. But you don’t have to be a philosopher or a photographer to enjoy the journey. During my most recent visit, Angel’s Rest was frequented by a wide variety of generations, shapes, and species (i.e. dogs). As you can see from the images below, even cloud coverage can’t dampen the view.
