Pet travel is a fast growing business. Over 50% of Americans travel with their pets and the numbers are on the rise. Every flight has at least one dog or cat on board.
The luxury travel industry caters to travelers that want to take their furry loved ones with them.
PET TRAVEL – AIR
PrivateFly, a booking service for private jets invites four legged companions to become the “pet set” while on their planes.
Adam Twidell, CEO of PrivateFly says, “During the flight the pet can relax in the company of their owner. We can provide their favorite food, toys, a blanket or a bowl – whatever the owner requires. Private jet travel is all about personalized customer service after all, and that includes the furry customer.”

PET FRIENDLY HOTELS
Room service, massage and cocktail parties are some of the treats offered for canine companions at Inn By The Sea located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Their VIPs (Very Important Pets) can choose to eat Meat “Roaff” off the gourmet doggy menu while dinning with their two legged loved ones in the Fireplace Lounge or on the seaside decks. Each new arrival gets their own bowls, beach towels, LL Bean sleeping blankets and organic dog treats.
Bodie gets a massage
Traveling without your pet but lonely for some unconditional love? The Inn By The Sea also offers a temporary home for fosters dogs from the nearby Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. If guests have to leave their pets at home but get lonely, they are welcome to cuddle or walk the current resident.
PET RESORTS
Often it is not feasible for your pet to join you on vacation. Instead of dropping them off at a kennel, find a local pet resort. The Paradise Ranch Pet Resort near Los Angeles offers a water park, Waikiki Beach, twenty-four hour human companionship and even birthday parties.
