While this winter’s polar vortex would have broken a less hearty demographic, the people of Minnesota emerged from the deep freeze and have been rewarded with an absolutely splendid summer season.
I was reminded on a recent visit why the summer months are a great time to visit the twin cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. There are festivals nearly every weekend and plenty to do both in the city as well as out in lake country.
Exploring Minnehaha Falls and walking around Lake Calhoun, one of the urban lakes in Minneapolis, were both highlights for me and my family.
During these dog days of summer, consider heading into the cities for a long weekend. Or start planning for your getaway next summer!
And be sure to check out one of my favorite St. Paul or Minneapolis hotels!
The W Minneapolis Hotel is located at the top of the famed Foshay Tower. The decor at the W Minneapolis Hotel matches the 1920’s retro feel of the tower itself. And located in the heart of downtown, it’s in an ideal location for concerts, sporting events or business. Be sure to head up to the 30th floor for a 360 degree view of the city! This is perhaps my number one suggestion for Minneapolis hotels.
The Grand Hotel, located right downtown Minneapolis , is another favorite of mine. Like all Kimpton hotels, the property has a charm unique to it’s location. And with complimentary access to Lifetime Fitness Athletic Club, the premier chain of clubs in the Twin Cities area, it’s perfect for travelers who need to get a workout in while traveling.
Finally, the St. Paul Hotel, in downtown St. Paul, is the best option if you’re spending the weekend on the other side of the river. The property is in an excellent location, within walking distance to restaurants, bars and music venues, and oozes charm with a heavy dose of history.
Have you spent the weekend in the Twin Cities? Which Minneapolis hotels did you enjoy?
