That’s it, this traveling lady is settin’ down her bag and taking off her shoes. In Seattle! At least for six weeks, possibly a lot longer. Which, for us movers and shakers, can feel like a long time. But in reality, the time is gonna fly by.
I am so excited! And for so many reasons!
1) Much as I love moving and shaking, it can be exhausting. The amount of energy spent on logistics, figuring out how to get from A to B, and what to bring, and where to put it, ugh, it makes me tired just thinking about it. Now, I can use that energy on doing more things that I love, like playing outdoors and exploring the city. Which leads me to…
2) Seattle ROCKS! Of all the cities to move to, Seattle is one of the most nature-loving friendly kinds out there. With the Cascades nearby, Olympic National Park a hop-skip-jump and ‘cross fingers for no traffic’ away, I’ll still be able to frolic in the outdoors just as much as before. But now, I’ll have so many more choices of ethnic cuisine/live music/cultural activities to be able to partake in when I’m not in the mood for nature.
3) There are a couple of super cool folks that I already know that live here-Angela from Travel with a Purpose (though we’ve only met in the web world that is ever widening), Beth from Pampers and Pakhlava, the folks over at Evergreen Escapes, Christine from Crooked Trails, and of COURSE our fearless leader Beth Whitman.
4) I debated about putting this into reason #3, but really, this one deserves it’s own reason. Bakery Nouveau, I met you briefly last July, and I’ve already stopped by to say hi since my recent arrival. I’m going to dedicate a blog entry to your Twice Baked Almond Croissant…
5) I get to participate in Passports with Purpose, a travelbloggers fundraiser to help build schools in Zambia. Well, I could have participated in this if I didn’t live in Seattle, but I already had the list going, and this is such a good way to promote it…
I’ve already started exploring the city by enjoying a run through Schmitz Forest Reserve Park. (Pictured above. Can you say awesomely amazing?) What’s your favorite outdoor spot in Seattle or the surrounding area that you think I should check out?
