In April I had the opportunity to travel to Barbados and I fell in love with the beauty of the island. I also discovered a love of Barbadian food and drinks. This post provides you with a recipe for one of Barbados banana rum drinks. This recipe offers the flavors of Bajan Dark Rum, Kahlua and Banana.

Dirty Banana
1 frozen banana
2 oz Bajan Dark Rum
1/2 oz Kahlua
2 oz of milk
Ground nutmeg as a garnish

Blend your frozen banana with the rum, and Kahlua in the blender. When the mixture is smooth add your milk and continue blending for a few seconds. Serve this in a chilled wine glass and garnish with ground nutmeg. These banana rum drinks will be a hit for your next tropical get together.

This Barbadian recipe came from a local tourist guide.
My trip to Barbados was sponsored by the Barbados Tourism Authority.

Are you looking for a little weekend island escape? Are you dreaming of Florida or the Caribbean while the temperatures outside your door hover at a cool 40 degrees? You’ve had enough cold. A little island time is in order. I’m sharing a tart taste of Florida that will have you singing tunes from the Florida Keys for your next weekend bash. For Wanderfood Wednesday I offer you a Key Lime Pie Martini. I loved this with my first sip.

Key Lime Pie Martini

It offers you the best of both worlds; The well known Key Lime Pie flavor with a Martini kick to bring the islands home. Think Ke Ke Key Lime Liquor, whipped cream vodka from Pinnacle, half and half, sweet and sour, fresh lime juice and the crowning touch, a chilled glass rimmed with graham crackers. Welcome to the Florida Keys! For the complete recipe check out The Cocktail Envy.

Feeling the need for a little island relief from the cold outside your door? Is Hawaii on your mind? Maybe a little Hawaii in a cocktail? This week Hammock in Paradise goes Hawaiian with recipes I love including a Blue Hawaii Cocktail. These offer some of the classic Hawaiian ingredients; rum, pineapple juice, coconut and Blue Curacao.
This Blue Hawaiian Cocktail offers a classic island flavor.

Have you ever imagined what a little piece of Hawaiian sky might taste like as you lie on the beach? Blue Heaven Think dark rum, Amaretto, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice and lime cordial.

Does snorkeling the hidden coves of Hawaii appeal to your senses? Maybe this Blue Lagoon will be an island fit. Enjoy the taste of Blue Curacao, fresh lemon and vodka with a tropical fruit garnish.

I think we all fall a little bit in love with Hawaii. Next time you’re blue for Hawaii try out this Blue Hawaii Cocktail. This one offers a twist with vodka.
