The Sponge Docks and Santorini’s patio.
My love of the Meditteranean is endless. For the past six years I’ve eaten at Santorini Meditteranean Grill and it never disappoints me. Santorini’s has a waterfront location on the Anclote River at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, FL. The restaurant is located about half way down the block on the right side as you come in to the sponge docks on Dodecanese Blvd.
The restaurant is spacious with a wall of sliding doors overlooking the Anclote River that are open in the cooler months. They also feature an outdoor patio with ceiling fans which helps keep things cool in the heat of summer. As you enjoy your meal you will often see boats and birds cruising by. Their menu is diverse and tasty with a variety of traditional Greek specialties.
One of my favorite appetizers is the Shrimp and Scallop Saganaki which combines shrimp, scallops, wine, butter and feta topped with grilled tomatoes. Santorini’s Greek salads are fresh and delightful, they are also very filling. The Souvlaki sandwich and platter are also tasty choices complimented with the homemade tzatziki sauce. The restaurant has a bakery counter with mouth watering pasteries you can enjoy after your meal or have wrapped to take home. I highly recommend the almond cookies. Santorini is one of those finds I keep coming back to because it’s food and service are excellent and I enjoy it’s location and view on the Anclote River.
