This week I received a Solio hybrid solar charger, as a gift. This thing rocks pure and simple. It is capable of charging my cell phone, gps, Ipod, camera, a PDA and even headphones with a simple charge from sunlight. The Solio hybrid charger comes with a quick start step by step guide. To begin you plug the charger into a wall jack and allow it to absorb a full charge. From this point on you are good to go with solar power.
Today I test drove my Solio for the first time, using it to charge my cell phone. It worked like a charm. It’s quick, easy and fun to use. Another great thing is that the Solio holds a charge and can be used later when the sun goes down. Tonight I’m recharging my phone from the stored solar power the Solio collected this afternoon. Very cool and very practical when you are away from home, out of power or camping without a traditional power source.
The Solio comes with plug adapters to use world wide, as well as adapters to fit cell phones, certain PDA’s and Mp3 players. There is even a handy cloth bag to store the Solio in with your particular adapter plug or plugs. I am still figuring out which adapter I will need to purchase to charge my Garmen GPS, so far nothing that came in the Solio kit works. Still, this is one top notch product. There are several versions of this product, so you can shop for the Solio that best fits your needs and budget. Solio’s range in price from $79.95 for a basic version to $169.95 for the top of the line hybrid solar version that I received.
