This is one in a series of Day Escapes on the island of Oahu.
Sandy Beach on Oahu, near Hawaii Kai has been one of my favorite beaches for years. This beach is located at the base of the Koko Crater and has a wonderful view and atmosphere. Visitors need to have an awareness that this beach is well known for it’s dangerous rip tides and currents. This is a beach to enjoy from the sand unless you’re an expert surfer. My favorite things about this beach are the great views of experienced body boarders and body surfers skimming the waves right up to the shore. You would be hard pressed to get better up close photos of surfers than the ones found at this beach.
Second this is a great family beach with picnic tables and restroom facilities. I have enjoyed many days with friends at this wonderful park. It’s gorgeous views and relaxing, comfortable shady spots to picnic make it a great day escape. Along with that is the chance to see some incredible experienced body boarders creating their magic on the water. Aloha!
