Next stop: Malaysia

A few months ago (I can’t believe it’s already October!) I wrote about how I thought I might be going home when I least expected it.

Well, I didn’t.

I stayed here in Thailand, I’m still here, and I’m still going to be here for…at least a little while.  But things are changing.  Though it’s not something that I’ve written too much about, I’ve been working this whole time as an English teacher.

Thai ClassroomAttempting to teach…and not being very successful…

Not anymore, or at least, not too much.  I’ve quit my main teaching gig and am figuring out what my next steps are.  This means I’ve also given up my visa to stay in Thailand and therefore need to leave the country…like NOW.  So, I’m off to Malaysia to deal with visa stuff and eat a lot of really good food.

Arroi MaakI’m spoiled with food in Thailand (like khao soi!) but have heard great things about eating in Penang

I’m not taking a computer or phone with me in an attempt to enjoy a bit of break after teaching for the past year and before…what’s coming next, which I’ll share with you soon.  (Let’s just say it involves tattoos, new directions, not ‘a real job’ and navigating dating in a different language…)

See you when I return…

Great post. My Cambodian students are the same. It’s really hard to
maintain a discipline in the classroom. Have a safe travel and enjoy yourself there!
